Let me paint you an image real fast.

You feel a temptation coming, but you decide to flirt with it. Do you honestly know what that’s doing? During this time, I see Jesus beating and broken carrying his cross. When you decide to follow through on it, I see Jesus mounted on the tree. But this time, all I picture is myself looking up saying ‘why?’ Why did I allow myself to let him hang there again?

This is an image that pops up in my head.

Why do I let myself go that far? I don’t understand the human mind, especially mine. Why can’t I just say ‘NO?’ In my heart I really want to say ‘no,’ but at times my heart isn’t in sync with my mind so it takes control.

Proverbs 3:5 “trust in the Lord with all your heart, and lean not on your own understanding.”

It’s time I start following the directions of what my heart says. The mind only causes me to go down a trail that I don’t want to be. The only way out is the retrace your steps, which will bring you back to what the heart wants.

1 Samuel 14:7 “and his armor-bearer
said to him, ‘Do all that is in your heart. Do as you wish. Behold, I am with you heart and soul.'”

Our protection and guidance comes from the heart and soul because the Holy Spirit dwells in those places. True wisdom and knowledge comes from the heart. Instead of always seeing Jesus broken on that cross, let us walk in that power and freedom he bestowed upon our hearts.
