We made it to Quito!! We have been here for four days now and are starting to get into a good rhythm! Due to COVID-19 our host is trying to minimize our chance of exposure as much as possible so for the next few weeks we will be doing projects around the grounds where we are staying. Here are some pictures of what it looks like and what we are doing:

We help cut up fresh produce from the garden for our meals and let me tell you… I have never eaten healthier in my life. Everything is so good! And praise be to God that our hosts set aside food for me that doesn’t contain cilantro so I can eat it. I feel so blessed.

We have been cleaning and organizing storage areas to tidy the place up as well as make more room for the stuff up in a house what we get to demolish next week!

We are also helping in the garden! It’s a lot of weeding, putting in compost, and harvesting food for us to eat.

We are also chopping a lot of wood for fire! Fun fact, this was my first time using an axe and it was really fun! Very hard work but hopefully the chainsaw we have been waiting on helps us cut the wood much faster.

And last but not least, here is the view I get to see when I spend time with the Lord each day. Even though it’s been kind of hard hearing we can’t leave the property, I feel so blessed with the community of girls we have, the amazing hosts, and a God who loves us. The word God gave me on the plane ride here was, “Be the Light to these people” and I am excited to see how God uses us in this way!
I will update you guys again soon!
Love, Isabel
