Hello there awesome people!
My name is Heather Hershberger. I am 19 years old and I live in the small town of Wakarusa which is located in the northern part of (the middle of no where) Indiana. I am a freshmen in College at Indiana University (South Bend). However, I’m taking this semester off in order to save money and spend some time deciding what I want to study and the career I would like to pursue in the future. I currently work at a cute little diner called C&C serving as a waitress and I love it!!
Ever since my first missions trip to Belize in 2016 I knew without a doubt that missions was something that God had placed on my heart. I had never felt so full and fueled with a passion for something as I did with this. God has really given me a heart for missions and helping people in poor countries who need it most. I fell in love with the people in Belize and went on another trip there in the summer of 2018. After that I began to pray that God would open doors for new opportunities and give me clarity about what to do next. Soon new opportunities started arising and that’s when the World Race’s “Adventures in Missions” popped up! I started praying for guidance and asking God if this was something He wanted me to do. Sure enough I applied for the trip to Costa Rica and I got in! Praise Jesus!!
I have a passion for working with children. It’s something that I’ve always enjoyed ever since I was a little girl myself! I enjoy working with children of all nationalities but especially those in poorer countries. I love the joy and simple faith that they live with day-in and day-out. I’m so excited to be serving them on this upcoming trip!
Some quick fun facts about me are….
* My favorite color is YELLOW
*I love giraffes (I like the way they look and their gentleness)
*My favorite verse (as of now, it changes like once a month lol) is John 8:36
*I enjoy doing anything outdoorsy (hiking, biking, camping etc.)
*I love spending time with my family, friends and of course…Jesus!
