Africa is beautiful.
We’ve been in Zambia for about 2 weeks now and it just feels natural.
Our first week here, there were 4 volunteers living in the house – one from France, one from Brazil, one from Switzerland, and one from England. There is also a local guy named Dennis living in the house.
Every morning we all got up and went to our respective schools to teach sweet kids and then we would come back and spend the afternoon with each other; exploring town, hanging around the house (yes, there were 15 of us living in one house – 4 bedrooms, 2 toilets, 1 shower). And then in the evenings we would all go out to a field just down the road from our house and play a giant game of soccer, let the girls plait our hair, and dance with the littles.
After dark, our team gets together to talk about the day and check-in and do some really awesome Jesus things – team times!
The four volunteers gradually started joining in our team times.
Everyone just became one big team.
Our friends all left on their separate adventures last Friday, but we’re still in touch with them.
Going to school every weekday morning and being with my kids and teaching is so sweet.
I’m watching my team step up into really awesome roles of being teachers, encouragers, and disciples.
The sports time in the afternoons has been some of the teams favorite time. Several of them love to play soccer and those that aren’t super into sports (aka me & a few others on my team) we sit with a bunch of girls and boys who didn’t join in and talk with them.
We have one more week of ministry here in Zambia and then we head to Zimbabwe. I ask that you keep praying for my team. It will be so sad leaving here, but pray that we can jump head first into this last week here and really let God use us.
