Dear Swaziland

Dear Swaziland,

Thank you for the memories. 

Thank you for the laughs. 

Thank you for the things you’ve taught me. Thank you for teaching me new extensions of gratitude. 

Thank you for showing me new ways to love the people I meet. 

Thank you for opening a door to even more of who the Lord is. 

Thank you for welcoming me without question. Thank you for laughing at/with me every time I try to speak siswati. 

Thank you for teaching me to appreciate the little things… like the really little things… like toilet paper. 

Thank you for bringing me new relationships and friends that I’ll cherish forever. 

Thank you for the non-stop, genuine hugs. Thank you for allowing me to bless your people with gifts, scripture and love from the Lord. 

Thank you for blessing me with people, gifts, scripture and love from the Lord. 

Thank you for loving on me. 

Thank you for teaching me more and more about life each day. 

Thank you for the days that were hard.  

Thank you for the days that exploded with joy. Thank you for Maba 2. 

Thank you for Cebile. 

Thank you for Winile Mngomezulu. 

Thank you for the woman we brought water to that I ended up dancing with at a wedding. Thank you for your vulnerability in asking for prayer. 

Thank you for walking out the way Jesus created you. 

Thank you for every day and every night. Thank you for the bugs that taught me the importance of insect repellant. 

Thank you for teaching me to clean my dishes well in order to avoid ant infestations.  

Thank you for teaching me that the best way to dispose of trash is to burn it… haha jokes but it really is the most fun way. 

Thank you for showing me that I still can really only make scrambled eggs. 

Thank you for showing me how to get inventive with an apple, cinnamon and oatmeal.  

Thank you for teaching me to hang my clothes high on the fence so the goats don’t eat them.  Thank you for letting me relive my school lunches with a PB and J everyday. 

Thank you for teaching me how to live in community… meaning 18 girls, one room, three showers and two toilets. 

Thank you for letting me try mango for the first time. 

Thank you for showing me that sometimes the messier you get the more fun you have. 

Thank you for teaching me new ways to worship the Father. 

Thank you for teaching me endurance in my faith. 

Thank you for the stillness. 

Thank you for slowing life down but make it feel fast all at the same time. 

Thank you for giving me another reason to be excited to go to heaven so I can dance with my new brothers and sisters in Christ once again.
