Hey! So I thought that you guys might want to know what I’m doing over here twelve or so hours ahead of you guys. 🙂 Monday was our first day of ministry. My team Selah, and another team Arise, are working at an orphanage for HIV/AIDs children. The orphanage is called “Agape Home”. Agape means “Unconditional Love” which is what the founder, Avise, felt that the kids needed. They needed someone to touch them, to love them, to care for them. So she founded this orphanage and has been working there for twenty-three years. (You can learn more about Agape Home at their website: http://www.nikkisplace.org/.)
We’re there for about seven hours each day. There are a variety of jobs to be done and sixteen of us to do it! Some of the jobs are painting, mowing, sanding, weed whacking, and helping with the kids. Currently, I have been weed whacking almost the entire time, which I have enjoyed! I honestly love it! I have never weed-whacked before, but I was able to pick it up pretty quick. It has been really helpful for them since they have a pretty nice sized place. It’s only been two days and it already looks better. If you know me, then you know that I adore kids and love playing with them. As much as I would love to be with the kids there are fifteen others that can do that. If they enjoy playing with kids but not yard work, then I can do the yard work since I enjoy both. So, even though I love kids, I also enjoy weed-whacking and that’s what I’m doing. 🙂

Since we didn’t start ministry till Monday, we had some time to explore the city, have fun, and spend time with each other. We went to a Buddist temple, went to the night market(s), had lots of local food, etc. Here are some fun pictures from the weekend!
