I’m going to tell you a little bit more about why I’m going on the World Race.

So originally when I chose this route (Route 3) it was Thailand, India, and Guatemala. Like I mentioned in my About Me section I chose this route because of the countries and how they each had some significance to me. The first country is Thailand and one of my friends had a great missions experience there. The next one is India. My Dad went to high school there and he was an MK in Nepal. (There was no route that went through Nepal, so India was the closest option.) Lastly, we would go to Guatemala. That was the first missions trip my parents went on together.

However, the World Race decided to make a few changes for what would be best for the missionaries and organizations they work with. So, now my route has changed a bit. Instead of our last country being Guatemala, we will now be going to Costa Rica!

Obviously, I want to go where we are needed the most. God knew from the beginning that this is where I would go, so I’m excited to see what He has planned! My dad did go to Costa Rica when he was studying biology in college and it was one of his favorite trips.

I knew after I graduated from High School that I wanted to do some sort of Gap Year program. I had some friends that had done a different program and had some amazing experiences. I had originally planned to go with my sister, who is a year younger than me, but she’s not old enough to go on World Race this year. So, I decided to be brave and just go by myself!

Originally I had just thought I would go on the same program one of my friends did. Then I did a High School research project about different Gap Year options. When I found The World Race it was different than so many of the other programs I researched. They spend almost all of the time internationally. I love the fact that WR gap year is 9 months long and goes to multiple countries. Also, we will be spending a significant amount of time in each country to really get to know the culture and the people we will be loving on and ministering to, which means I will see more and really connect there. I want to go out and see what all God has created and see all the other people He loves. I want to make a difference in someone’s life and be able to show them just how much God loves them! It will be amazing to see the sparkle in their eye once they realize just how much that is.

Until next time…….
