The other night I couldn’t fall asleep so I decided to think about obscure nouns that described my team members. I will now introduce them according to these nouns.
Jeniffer is a wolf. She is a leader in her wolf pack. If a car is coming in my direction, she will pull me back onto the sidewalk – even if the car is a mile away. She has great protective instincts, needless to say. She is extremely loyal, calling her parents almost every morning. She puts her “pack” first, whether that be her family, her friends, or her students.
Jordan is a fire blanket and a fire starter. She puts out fires by speaking the truth. She is protective of her family and friends and can be extremely private. There’s a fire we cannot see within her. She is not easily swayed and she stands by her values no matter what. The fire gets started when she prays. She prays with such authority that the atmosphere in the room changes. She could start a movement with her words.
Kaysha is a well-read novel. And when I say well-read, I mean that she’s a book that’s been picked up so many times because people love to read it (imagine To Kill A Mockingbird in a used bookstore). She’s a novel because her stories are sometimes so crazy they don’t seem real. She gets better and better with each chapter I read. There are many plot twists in her story, and so many things left to learn. She could make anyone like her and she never makes you feel uncomfortable. She’s super inviting. You just wanna sit by the fire and listen to her.
Gabi is a home with many beautifully and intricately decorated rooms. Each item in the house is placed with intentionality. Each item has meaning and a story behind it. I imagine her welcome mat is worn out from all the guests. She is extremely tenderhearted and people-minded. Her door is always open, and it is never locked. Anyone can find a home in her heart.
Katrina is a museum. But not the kind of museum you go to because it’s raining outside. Imagine the Lourve in the summertime. That kind of museum. She has many different exhibits. One exploring her knowledge of plants; another, garden gnomes; another, bouncy balls; another, glitter. The list goes on and on. You will need the audio guide or pamphlet in order to understand her. You cannot simply understand her exhibit by looking at her. She is also sometimes closed during construction. But when she re-emerges, her new exhibit has a line out of the door.
Annie is a forest. You can wander endlessly through the trees and still be lost in the mystery. She is self-sufficient but she desires to nourish those around her. She is very self-aware, always knowing what she needs when she needs it. She is also adventurous and has childlike wonder about things. She values things in their most natural state, down to foods she eats and hair products she uses. She is always teaching us new things about herself.
I would like to be a dining room table. I want strangers and friends and family to gather around me and feel at home.
I hope that gives you an idea of the ladies I’m surrounded by in this season. We are all extremely different. And the way we relate to the Lord is extremely different too. But it’s a beautiful thing!
Thanks for reading. Love y’all.
