I’m going to tell y’all what was probably my favorite memory from ministry in Swaziland!
The other day I was at Savemor with just Parker and Champ for ministry, and we were walking over to the mechanics when we heard a car horn repeatedly honking. We looked over and it was our friend Happy in his Khumbi. He yelled “Power, Power,” (my Siswati name I was given that is much easier for locals to remember than Ford) so we walked over to him and gave him a hug. He said “Let’s go,” but we told him we were staying at Savemor for the next couple hours. He then said, “No let’s go to the mountain.” So we said okay and got in the Khumbi with him and a few locals. We drove about 30 minutes to a village at the base of the Lebombo mountains called Nsubane, where we sat under a tree and talked for a while.
After a few minutes hanging out and taking in the view, we got back in the Khumbi with just Happy and drove back to Savemor. We talked with him the whole time and told him about what we’re doing here and why, and he told us about life as a Khumbi driver and how he has learned to lean on the Lord all the time. It was an amazing conversation because we got to see how people have the same struggles no matter where they are in the world, and how everyone has to learn to trust the Lord with their whole life.
On another note, I’m getting ready to leave Swaziland in just a little over a week for Asia. I’m really sad that we have to say goodbye to Swaziland and all of the incredible people we’ve gotten to know here, but I’m excited to go to an entirely new culture and experience the Lord in new ways. I’d love it if y’all could be praying for the squad as we prepare to leave!
Thanks for reading!
