One of our physical blessings at REAP we have been allowed to do is help fill in the cracks on their soccer and softball fields. This time of the year is their dry season so the ground cracks from being so dry. Every sunday people from every surrounding community comes here and plays ball. Over 100 people. Anyway as we worked this passed week we noticed how the children of the workers that work at REAP has such a servant heart. Being out their filling in the cracks we look up to see the children running out to us and just start filling up wheelbarrows to bring to us. After showing them where we needed piles of dirt they just started to work. A few minutes later we noticed we gained several more children. As we had to many children and not enough shovels or wheelbarrows they began to fight for the shovels to fill in the cracks. So they began to try and take ours. Some of the children decided that they would go get water for us. We worked from 9-11:30. After we began to wrap it up for lunch time we had to fight for the shovels and wheelbarrows back so we could put them up for the day. As we walked back to the pavilion for lunch the kids went off and started to play.
This made me think. How many people will become a servant for God expecting nothing in return? How many people will fight for the faith of God? How many shows the love of Jesus and not clam it as there own?
These kids taught me just that.
How many times do we wake up for work or even ministry and your mind and heart doesn’t line up with the word. Or when you help someone out then share it with everyone. “Whatever you do, work at it with all your heart, as working for the Lord, not for human masters, since you know that you will receive an inheritance from the Lord as a reward. It is the Lord Christ you are serving.”
– Colossians 3:23-24
These kids didn’t want fame, a pat on the back, or Ice cream. They where just being out there helping us because there hearts wanted to serve not because they had to do it. Because they didn’t have to. They loved serving the gringos because like them we are all Gods people.
Showing them love like Jesus even though the language was a mess Christ love is it’s own language. In return they where amazing little servants. We poured into them and they did in return. When we go deeper with Jesus He will take us deeper! When we pour into His kingdom He will pour into us and our families!
What would happen if we all changed to where our mind and heart connected and served with a love instead of a have to? What would happen if we saw a need and took action right when God says it’s time instead of having a do I have to spirit? Serving others is serving Jesus and if our hearts and minds do not add up to the word and love of Christ we are not doing it well. Let this sink in.
