A quick update
* My team has been in Guatemala for almost a week and I love them and this place.
* This place is absolutely breathtaking
* The people here are so genuine and so open to having a conversation even if there is a language barrier and you can only ask a few questions
* Pastor Juan, who is our host here, is the most “on fire for God” person I have ever met. The song king of my heart has a verse where it says, “the fire in my veins the echo of my days oh he is my song.” Juan lives that verse out better than any person I’ve ever met.
* Our ministry looks a little something like this: construction (literally building to bring more to the kingdom & getting a few blisters along the way) playing soccer and eating with the local police, going to the park and asking if we can pray for people there, having kids over and playing games with them, just letting them be kids and just genuinely loving on people. It’s helped me understand more that ministry can literally be anything. As long as you are serving the lord and not doing it to attempt to glorify yourself it is ministry.
* God is doing amazing things here in Chichicastenango and I cannot wait to see what type of revival takes place here.
* Keep praying for my team and I because let me tell ya spiritual warfare is a very real thing. We all know that the only reason we’re feeling this is because the devil is scared of what God is doing in Guatemala.
At the feet of Jesus
The real reason I wrote this is because I’d like to share a little portion of my heart. At training camp we were advised to find a verse and meditate on it for the rest of the summer. God immediately put not only a verse but a short passage on my heart and told my to meditate on and realize what he is trying to say to me. The passage is found in Luke 10:38-42, down below.
38Now as they went on their way, Jesus entered a village. And a woman named Martha welcomed him into her house. 39And she had a sister called Mary, who sat at the Lord’s feet and listened to his teaching. 40But Martha was distracted with much serving. And she went up to him and said, “Lord, do you not care that my sister has left me to serve alone? Tell her then to help me.” 41But the Lord answered her, “Martha, Martha, you are anxious and troubled about many things, 42but one thing is necessary. Mary has chosen the good portion, which will not be taken away from her.”
When I see this passage all I can think is “I want to be Mary.” So many times though I am Martha, letting the distractions and “important” things get in my way of listening to the Messiah. All I want is to sit at the feet of Jesus. I say this because at the feet of Jesus I am: found, loved, guided, saved, liberated, safe, and so many other words.
I’d encourage you all to find some time through out your week to sit and understand what it means for you to be at the feet of Jesus. This week I have had to be at the feet of Jesus daily because I don’t often know what is exactly going on nor do I speak the language. I’ve had to rely on what he is speaking into me and how to speak his words into the people I get to be surrounded by.
