Dear Friends & Family,

I hope this letter finds you well.  I am writing to you from the vibrant city of Portland, Oregon. The Pacific Northwest has been home to me for the past year and a half; where I have been using my degree in finance with Fisher Investments. It was difficult to move 2400 miles from my family and friends but I am so thankful I did. I have established a solid Christian community at Fresh Life Church that has fed me spiritually, provided a way for me to serve the body through Children’s Ministry, and has sparked a desire within to allow God to direct every aspect of my life.

My move to the PNW has also given me a great group of friends and we have enjoyed exploring Oregon through hiking, camping, and skiing many weekends. I am thankful for the confidence and experience I have gained through my job, however, my heart has been stirring for something more. My prayer for 2018 was to understand and pursue God’s purpose for me, I believe the World Race is my answered prayer.

During a Fresh Life Women’s night I was introduced to a former Racer. She recently returned from 11 months of discipleship around the world. After hearing her story, I was filled with an overwhelming feeling that THIS IS IT, this is what God is calling me to do! Fast forward a few months, countless prayers, a leap of faith, and here I am planning 11 months in 11 countries with a backpack, a tent, and a desire to expand God’s Kingdom!

The World Race is an 11 month, 11 country mission trip to share the love of Jesus and serve those in need around the world. What specifically resonates with me about this organization is their statement of purpose: “We seek to disciple as Jesus did; our vision is that God would use us to raise up a generation of radically committed disciples of Jesus Christ.”

Beginning in August 2019, I will travel to Mongolia, China, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Ethiopia, Kenya, Uganda, Romania, Bulgaria, Albania, and Greece.

Now, why am I sending you this letter? Well, I have two big asks of you.

Most importantly, I ask for your prayers. Please pray for physical, emotional, and spiritual health.

Secondly, I ask for your financial support. I am required to raise $19,200 to fund my mission trip. I ask that you prayerfully consider supporting me. You can do so through my blog, https://emilyscott.theworldrace.org, and select the “Donate!” tab on the right side of the screen.

If you have any questions or would like to hear more please contact me at 614-312-1987 or [email protected].  I’d love to speak with you!

In Christ,

Emily
