Friends and family,
It’s been a long while. Every time I sit down to write some words on a screen for you all, I get overwhelmed and shut down. Cambodia is incredible and has been one heck of a ride. I can’t wait to tell you all about it. But, for now, thanks to each and everyone of you I have some super exciting news…
I am FULLY FUNDED. That’s right, fully funded. Within 12 months, together, we raised $16,600. I think it’s been so hard for me to write this blog because I’m honestly still so shook.
I remember back when I first got accepted to go on the race, that number seemed huge. It felt like it could take my whole life to raise that much. Some days it was overwhelming. Prior to the race I had fundraised for cheer, golf, and younglife camp through different ways like selling blueberries or flower baskets. Never a number so big though. I knew silly fundraisers weren’t gonna cut it. One day, an old manager of mine said to me at church “if it’s His will, it’s His bill. Pray about it” So that’s what I did. It so quickly hit me that the best fundraising method was prayer. I began to view fundraising as a way to partner with the Father. Little by little the number dropped. For a few months, I felt like I tanked. I was in college with the first deadline approaching, hardly able to work, and no progress was happening to that big number. That’s when I realized I had gotten so caught up in everything that I wasn’t praying about it. So, I started adding that to my prayers again and within a week over a thousand dollars came in. Fast forward to last month, midpoint debreif. I had just over two thousand dollars left to raise the day before our last deadline. Two thousand dollars, 24 hours, and one great God. I got down to needing the last $100 when my squad mate got a phone call. Boom. That was it. Zero dollars left to raise. Fully funded.
Time and time again over the 12 months God showed up through each of you, my supporters.
There were days when I didn’t think I would make it here but, thanks to you, here I am sitting in Cambodia, getting to share the good news to an unreached people group, six months into the best season of my life so far. I don’t know where you’re at in your faith, maybe you only donated because you believe in me, but as they say money doesn’t grow on trees. I know God was behind this every single step of the way. My biggest thank you for letting the creator of all things work through YOU. Thank you for trusting, encouraging, supporting and loving me so well during this journey. Truly, I couldn’t be here without you. You all are a big part of this journey and I am forever thankful for this opportunity.
Love always, cass
