A few weeks ago, I made an Instagram post about this phrase and I’ve really been wanting to share it with you all! This was just something that was really powerful and reassuring to me and I hope you all feel the same way!

“Who the Son sets free, Oh is free Indeed, I’m a Child of God, Yes I am.”

What does it really mean to be a child of God? I feel like sometimes we just say our identity is found in Christ because it’s just one of those convenient Christian fillers ( completely guilty ). But do we remember the first time we said it, we meant it, we felt it? Whether it was in a moment of joy and happiness or in a time of turmoil and pain, we remember it. To say our identity is in Christ is such a powerful thing God has given us. Our identity lies within someone so perfect and holy. Someone with such power of being fully God and fully man. Oh and also not to mention someone who died for us who didn’t have to.The word identity stems from the Latin word “idem” meaning “same”. I don’t know about y’all but to be like Jesus is something I strive for everyday. And to think that the word identity it’s self means something so powerful to be one in the same as Jesus on its own is just not some coincidence. In 1 Peter, Peter addresses to certain groups of exiles within Rome who don’t necessarily fit in with everyone else. He says to them in 1 Peter 2:9-10, “But you are a chosen people, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, God’s special possession, that you may declare the praises of him who called you out of darkness into his wonderful light. Once you were not a people, but now you are the people of God; once you had not received mercy, but now you have received mercy.” He spoke hope and peace and truth to those people in exile, without a true home or identity. They now have a place in Christ. I’m just so thankful and blessed that I can say that my identity is in Christ! I hope you can too!

With Love and Blessings,
