It’s been just over a week since I left home, and it’s been about 4 days since arriving in Africa. It’s nice to finally settle down in one place for the month. My team is currently in Nsoko, Swaziland. The process of getting here was quite the journey, but it worked in our favour! What started out as 3 flights turned into one direct flight with a 22 hour stay in the airport. We received a heaping amount of favour all throughout. And at last, here we are.
The last couple days have been a mixture of driving and getting used to everything, though it’s already been incredible. My team has grown to become family in such a short amount of time. It’s amazing to say the least. Knowing you’ll be living with each other for two months really gets you talking outside of generic small talk.
Being in this environment has of course been really humbling. From bugs in our beds, to power outages, to hand washing our clothes—it has been a real treat.
This upcoming week we’ll be diving into ministry. We’ve only gotten a taste of it, playing with some children. From that little glimpse though, it has already brought me so much joy just being with these kids, seeing the joy that they have. I can’t wait to share the stories and experiences that come from it. It’s been great so far, so here’s to the next 3 weeks of Swaziland!
Side note—sorry to everyone in the Carolinas, but the weather is absolutely perfect here. Very happy to have escaped the 100 degree heat.
