Dear Courageous One,

This is a word for the one who is tired of being in the wilderness.

This is a word for the one who doesn’t feel courageous most of the time.

This is a word for the one who jumps back and forth between what is true and what is not more often than they wish they did.

dear hopeless heart, I assure you,

the breakthrough is coming!!!

Isaiah 43:1-3 “Do not be afraid, for I have ransomed you. I have called you by name; you are mine. When you go through deep waters, I will be with you. When you go through rivers of difficulty, you will not drown. When you walk through the fire of oppression, you will not be burned up; the flames will not consume you. For I am the Lord your God, the Holy One of Israel, your Savior.”

You are being taught how strong you are in all of this. You are loved consistently through everything in your life that shouts and thrusts unsteadiness into your heart. Those pieces of where you’re at right now that make you want to hide in shame and run as fast as you can into hiding, those are the things that are teaching you to stand up, to say the hard yeses, and to see yourself and your God just a little differently than you did before all of this.

dear weary soul,

keep shouting praise!!!

Psalm 119:49-50 “Remeber your promise to me; it is my only hope. Your promise revives me; it comforts me in all my troubles.”

Psalm 98:1-2 “Sing a new song to the Lord for he has done wonderful deeds. His right hand has won a mighty victory; His Holy arm has shown His saving power.”

Keep praising. Fight the spiritual battle by praising the name of Jesus. Fight the worldly battle by keeping your eyes on the Father that’s holding you. Keep praying and clinging to the promises He’s giving you. Ask for promises. Keep being brutally honest with God. Don’t stop what you’re doing. Keep moving.

dear child who can’t feel anything right now,

Apathy is not bad.

The words that come out as a result of apathy are simply uncensored and honest. Sometimes, those are the words that God can work the most with. Once you put everything on the table, and stop letting things feel like separation between you and God; once you stop running from what’s uncomfortable and begin asking why God has you where He does, then He can speak clearly and you’ll finally listen. And sometimes, it takes some apathy to get you there.

dear seemingly forgotten one,

he has not walked out on you!!!

Isaiah 45:3-4 “I have cared for you since you were born. Yes, I carried for you before you were born. I will be your God throughout your lifetime- until your hair is white with age. I made you, and I will care for you. I will carry you along and save you.”

He’s still here. I promise He is still here and still speaking. He might feel gone because He might be teaching you to hear Him and see Him in ways you haven’t heard Him or seen Him before. So look and listen. Listen in the loud and in the quiet. Ask Him to reveal His presence and open your heart to know Him in a new way. He’s still the kind, caring God you’ve known in the sweetest of seasons and moments. He is. You did not become too much for Him. He didn’t get tired of you. You haven’t fallen short. You are still worth healing & knowing & wanting & caring for. You are still His.

dear friend in a season of suffering,

Suffering is suffering. No matter how you slice it. It hurts. It’s messy & ugly. It’s uncomfy and uncertain in more ways than a few. Suffering is suffering. But He hasn’t left. He hasn’t lost His grip on us. He wants us & knows us & loves us. Walking in faith is not easier necessarily. Not less scary even. But walking in faith changes things big time. Actions & choices & words change when they abide in truth instead of being dictated by fear. Jesus could have died on the cross without pain and suffering ]. But He suffered for a greater purpose & we are doing the same. We are suffering for a purpose. Hold on.

rescue is not always a quick process. but safety is assured.

So back to where we started, at “Dear courageous one,” I want you to know that’s you.

YOU specifically. You are full of courage. So much stronger than you think. Incredibly purposed. You’re being healed & rescued & redeemed every single day. Don’t give up. Hold on. Every day you wake up with breath in your lungs, God has something for you.

Isaiah 43:13 “From Eternity to Eternity I am God. No one can snatch anyone out of my hand. No one can undo what I have done.”

Remember, it is already finished. you are already complete. you have everything that you need to make it through. He is already proud because He sees you in perfection and completeness.
