The past 48+ hours have been emotionally, mentally, and spiritually heavy for my squad and myself. Not to mention all of the other world race squads on the field. Within 48 hours we have received two emails. The first one was talking about the possibility of being sent back to the states and today (3/14/20) the second email was sent to us informing our squad that we are being sent home.

It has taken me hours to wrap my head around this news. I have been on the field for a little over two months and it hurts to say that it is being put on pause.

In these past few days God has really reminded me of a few things.

God is a God that keeps His promises.

Philippians 1:6 “being confident of this, that he who began a good work in you will carry it on to completion until the day of Christ Jesus.” ESV

This has also reminded me that even when things are hard God is still God! The song Yes I Will came on while I was worshiping and the lyrics brought me to tears.

I count on one thing

The same God that never fails

Will not fail me now

God has not left me! And He will not fail me!

Deuteronomy 31:8 “It is the Lord who goes before you. He will be with you, He will not leave you or forsake you. Do not fear or be dismayed.” ESV

Joshua 1:9 “Have I not commanded you? Be strong and courageous. Do not be frightened, and do not be dismayed, for the Lord your God is with you wherever you go.” ESV

Isaiah 41:10 “Fear not, for I am with you; be not dismayed, for I am your God; I will strengthen you, I will help you, I will uphold you with my righteous right hand.” ESV

The same God who’s never late

Is working all things out

Jeremiah 29:11 “For I know the plans I have for you, declares the Lord, plans for welfare and not for evil, to give you a future and a hope.” ESV

Philippians 4:19 “You can be sure that God will take care of everything you need, his generosity exceeding even yours in the glory that pours from Jesus.” MSG

Ecclesiastes 3:1 “For everything there is a season, and a time for every matter under heaven” ESV

Yes I will, lift You high in the lowest valley

Yes I will, bless Your name

Oh, yes I will, sing for joy when my heart is heavy

All my days, oh yes I will

Isaiah 25:1 “Lord, you are my God; I will exalt you and praise your name. For in perfect faithfulness you have done wonderful things, things planned long ago.” NIV

Psalm 63:3-4 “Because your love is better than life, my lips will glorify you. I will praise you as long as I live, and in your name, I will lift up my hands.” NIV

Psalm 34:1 “I will extol the Lord at all times; his praise will always be on my lips.” NIV

And I choose to praise

To glorify, glorify

The Name of all names

That nothing can stand against

The part that really got me here was “I choose”. I choose! I will choose God even when I feel like I can’t breathe. I will choose God when the world around me is filled with fear. I will choose God when I don’t understand what He wants me to do next. I will also choose God when everything seems to fall perfectly into place. I will choose God when it is 70 degrees, not a single cloud in the sky, and the birds are singing.

God chose us when He sent His one and only son to die for our sins. Because of that I will choose God.

Ephesians 1:4 “Long before he laid down earth’s foundations, he had us in mind, had settled on us as the focus of his love, to be made whole and holy by his love.” MSG

Romans 10:9 “that if you confess with your mouth the Lord Jesus and believe in your heart that God has raised Him from the dead, you will be saved.” NKJV

I will choose God!
