I learned a new song recently, and it’s such a catchy tune with fun dancing and clapping-it’s impossible to forget the lyrics. While singing this song one day I felt like I had a little vision… “Hou vas aan Jesus, hou vas aan Jesus, hou vas aan Jesus….hou vas, hou vas, hou vas, hou vas aan Jesus.” Which translates to, “Hold on to Jesus, hold on to Jesus, hold on to Jesus…hold on, hold on, hold on, hold on to Jesus.”
I closed my eyes and saw Peter walking on the water towards Jesus, until he started to freak out and was sinking. Jesus reaches out His hand and pulls Peter up out of the waves. I really feel like I resonate with that particular story of Peter; he trusted Jesus….until he didn’t. While walking in the treacherous waters of our own lives, how many times do we trust Jesus until we just don’t anymore?
I’ll be honest, I’ve been there…a lot. I trust Him with the little things, but when it comes to the big things I’m convinced I’m the only one who can handle it. Y’all, God enabled a little shepherd boy to kill a 9 foot tall giant- and that’s pretty big!- so why can’t I trust Him to squash my “giant” problems?
In reality, Jesus is just waiting for you to look up through the waves and ask for help. He’s already standing there with His hand out, ready to pull you up, so why don’t we look up? We worry about the waves around us that are crashing all over us, we look towards the crippling fear that we feel is going to drown us. We need to look up though, and look to Jesus. Because as Psalm 121 days, “I look to the hills, where does my help come from? My help comes from the Lord, the maker of heaven and earth.”
Ignore the waves around you, look past the stormy sea, and look up to the Lord who is reaching His hand out to rescue you.
Thanks for reading my little revelation, I hope it impacts you the way it did me.
