This weekend, my team is serving with Global Leadership Academy at the Trans Baviaans- a cycling event in South Africa. We traveled up a mountain to serve hot soup, coffee, and coke to the cyclists at the 100 mile point. We’re basically serving, encouraging, and loving on all that we come in contact with.
Friday started with driving up to the mall with Allison and Liesl, grabbing a couple trolleys, and heading to the back of a coffee shop where a friend’s husband had container after container of soup for this weekend. We filled 4 carts, and loaded them into the back of a truck to transport into the mountains. This time was filled with spilled soup, lots of laughter, and a quick ride in the back of a bakkie (a typical pickup truck) to transport soup.
We drove up the side of a mountain, and you could actually see the slope going down hill when looking out the window. We had such good conversations with our new friend, Reinhardt. We saw baboons, and I was warned to stay away from them and the buffalo (animal lover over here.) It was all so incredible and I loved every second of it, and I look forward to building even more relationships as we start working with students this upcoming week.

Allison and I rode in the back of the bakkie (truck) for a few minutes to make sure the soup didn’t spill on our way to a house. I haven’t laughed so hard in a while.

What I’m learning so far, is to ditch my expectations. Embrace the unordinary and unexpected, because only Jesus can use something as simple as soup to spread His love.
Thank you for your support, and for your continued prayers! They mean so much to all of us; we couldn’t do any of this without your support!
Also, please pray for South Africa! They’re currently in a draught; every person in South Africa is asked to take only a 4 minute shower in order to ration the water. Please pray for rain!!
