We all have fears, just like we’ve all faced rejection. I have a fear of rejection, and unfortunately I’ve felt rejected more times than I’d care to admit. As a matter of fact, I applied to the World Race twice. The first time I applied, I wasn’t accepted – I was rejected, or at least that’s how I felt.
Like I’ve previously written about, I’ve overcome self harm, an eating disorder, suicide attempts, and a whole lot of junk. Throughout all of that, I was in a constant state of rejection. I never felt good enough, because I didn’t know my worth in Jesus.
Recently I went away for a weekend spent with Godly women, who have served and loved the way Jesus Christ calls us to. It was an indescribable experience filled with the Holy Spirit, and I literally feel like a weight has been lifted off of my heart.
I now have a new perspective of Jesus after that weekend, and I’m reminded of the lyrics from So Will I :
“If You gave your life to love them so will I.”
In a little under two months I’ll be leaving for Georgia to go to training camp, and in under 4 months I’ll be on my way to South Africa. I can’t go and do what Christ has called me to do if I am carrying my guilt, shame, unforgiveness, and other burdens. I had to let that all go, and I cannot begin to tell you how much better I feel.
Do you ever just relax? Sit back, unclench your jaw, release your tongue from the roof of your mouth, ease up your shoulders? Do you notice how more relaxed you feel already? Do you feel the tension melting away? Imagine doing that with your heart. If you could unclench the jaw of your heart and release that tension, how much better do you think you’d feel internally?
