“Obedience to the call of Christ nearly always cost everything to two people-
the one who is called, and the ones who love that one.”
-Oswald Chambers
I love the holidays, from learning to cook new dishes, to watching my nieces and nephews open gifts and make memories together. This year has been a tough holiday season, not because I am not happy, but simply because reality hit me in the face and reminded me of all that I would miss next year while on the world race!
While everyone is joking and laughing and planning for the next year, and how we should do a Christmas movie night with the kids, and how making new traditions is important I feel frozen in time. Like I am trying to absorb everything everyone is saying because THESE moments are precious. I have never felt so sentimental, but each conversation carried out and every moment to spend with family and friends has become that much more important. While sitting at a New Years party with some of my closest friends, I listen to all that they are wanting to do together within the next year, I found my self-thinking “what? I am going to miss all of this?”.
As I drove home that night I thought of a post I posted on Facebook a few days before, It read
“We talk about the second coming, half the world has never heard of the first.”
-Oswald J Smith
Then I thought “why do you feel sad?!” You are going to go and minister to people, and love people and LOVE it!! Do not feel sad because of the things you are going to miss, but feel honored to go and tell people about Jesus and how he died so that their sins may be forgiven! Though yes, I will miss my family and friends and many other important things, I DO NOT want to miss what God is going to do in the World Race, and how it is going to change my life and the lives of the people we are going to reach!
Romans 10:14 says,
“How, then, can they call on the one they have not believed in? And How can they believe in the one whom they have not heard? And how can they hear without someone teaching to them? And how can anyone preach unless they are sent” As it is written: “How beautiful are the feet of those who bring the good news?
So how can they hear unless someone go? They cannot, missionaries go and bring good news to those who do not know it, they go to give hope to the hopeless. We GO to be the hands and feet of The Lord to reach those who were once unreachable, and to show them the truth and walk alongside them as they walk this thing out!
Though I will miss the next holiday season, I will spend it with my team and new family overseas. I am not sure they will celebrate as Americans do, but that is okay! This is a new Journey and a new season in my life. IT IS GOING TO BE AWESOME!!!
To those who are wanting to donate towards this trip please know that ANYTHING helps! I have to raise $19,200, and every dollar counts! $1.00, $5.00, $10.00, whatever you feel like giving is okay! Every dollar is making it possible for someone to hear the gospel!
Keep an eye out for the next blog, God is up to great things!
