Wow month three is done! And God has done A LOT. Ministry was with the whole squad this past month and we stayed at a YWAM base in Mendoza Argentina.
“We are going to stand on this box to share the gospel in the city.” If someone asked me a few months ago to stand on a box and share my testimony in a park, I would have told them, you’re crazy and no thanks. This is not the kind of evangelism I feel comfortable with. One day for ministry we learned more about evangelism from a pastor and his family and put it into practice. Something that would normally make me run away screaming, the Lord gave me an immense sense of peace about. So there I was in Mendoza Argentina, standing on a box and sharing my testimony (with a translator of course). A few people gathered around to listen to the testimonies from my squad and the illustrated message the pastor shared. We were able to talk and pray for them. Fear was cast out and the Lord’s light was shining.
There was a Christmas event going on and we were asked to go around and invite people to it in Spanish. I passed by a few young girls trying to give away a puppy they found on the street (precious). We stopped to talk to them and I quickly realized I’m actually holding a conversation with them by myself in Spanish. We laughed a lot and I had to repeat my sentences a few times for them to understand but unlike other times, I didn’t want to give up just because they couldn’t understand me the first try. A connection was made in a 5-minute conversation. I pray those girls grow up knowing how much the Father loves them and that sweet little puppy finds a home.
The hospital. The hospital was tough. We went to visit patients in the hospital the day after Christmas. We were not allowed to enter the rooms until 1pm so we had to wait an hour. A leader at YWAM suggested we go down to the emergency room and pray for people there. This hour was life changing. Our hearts were breaking at the stories we heard but we had confidence God was going to move through the prayers. A couple people from the squad witnessed healings that day, others were asked to pray for salvation, and some were interceding. My teammate and I prayed for a 16 year-old boy who was sitting outside the hospital. He told us his brother was in the hospital because his head got split open. He was really worried about him and didn’t know when he’d be able to start walking again. As soon as we entered the hospital at 1pm, we saw him with his brother walking around the waiting area. We got to meet his brother and his mom and we had an opportunity to pray for them. I could feel God’s hand in this unexpected moment.
What did I take away from this past month.. I serve a BIG God who loves His sons and daughters so so much. He hears our cries and our prayers. He is there when the world feels heavy and the pain seems unbearable. He is our ultimate sense of peace and comfort. He wants to give us confidence in the things that seem scary and pray bold prayers. God answers big prayers and He’s also present in the waiting. He’s there to cry with and rejoice in. Everyday I learn something new about God. Everyday I see a new side of Him I didn’t see before. Argentina, you were sweet and I have no doubt of the Lord’s presence there. Now onto Togo, feeling pumped to see how God continues to move!
Love,
Anna 🙂
