Squad X is wrapping up our time here in Romania. Right now we are on a train heading to the capital city getting ready to head to Guatemala.
What a first country Romania was. We had to cook for ourselves as a squad. So grocery shopping, handling budget, and coming up with yummy meals. Everyday we had a different ministry whether it was evangelism, kids ministry, gardening, painting, or cleaning. Everyday we went into ministry having no clue what we were going to do. We took trips to Serbia, Bulgaria and the Balkans countries in hopes of scouting out future ministry spots.
Romania was hard. People here are very closed off, and old school Orthodox. They don’t really know that Abba is personal and longs for their hearts rather than their burning candles and prayers to painted pictures.
In month 2 I spent time in Draganesti-Olt and we were on a hill that over looks the city and I was praying for the people, of this city and I looked down at the ground saw little white flowers growing from what I thought was dead wheat, and God told me “the winter is over”.
This phrase took me back to a listening prayer that one of my squad mates had done for me that also said “the winter is over”
It wasn’t until last night that I realized this wasn’t only true for myself in that season, or for the town of Dragonesti-Olt, but for all of Romania.
In the last 3 months here, we as a squad have witnessed the seeds that have been planted here with tears. And we have planted seeds with tears too, but the harvest with great shouts of joy is coming.
Psalm 126: 4-6
“Restore our fortunes, Lord, as streams renew the desert. Those who plant in tears will harvest with shouts of joy. They weep as they go to plant their seed, but they sing as they return with the harvest.”
The Winter is Over. This is the promise for Romania. Great revival is coming. We didn’t get to see it but we got to humbly plant with tears. This revival may not happen today, or next month or next year, but it’s coming. God is a God of the promise. Through these first 3 months he has shown me the love he has for these people, and how passionate he is to leave the 99 for the 1.
Romania has been a place of growth, spiritual warfare, and wrestling. But through the different seasons of self-discovery, barrenness, and pursuit of the Lord, he has promised me that Abundant Joy is coming for me, but also for Romania.
Romania soon will be a country on its knees in awe of the father. Romania will be a country that seeks his wisdom in prayer. Romania will be a country that breathes with passion for his spirit. Romania will be a country after Gods heart.
