Ask and You Shall receive
Matthew 7:7 says
Just ask and it will be given to you; seek after it and you will find. Continue to knock and the door will be opened for you.
This has been my theme for the past couple weeks. Ask and you shall receive. It’s quite simple actually. I think so much in Christianity we’re prone to undermine the smaller things as if we’re “bothering” Jesus with our issues or something.
So a little back story; a few weeks ago I was struggling big time with some spiritual warfare. I don’t want to go into any details because it was scary and personal, but it was a big struggle for me during the beginning of my time in San Jose.
During the spiritual warfare I had a moment where I just needed to say out loud the name of Jesus. I needed to ASK for him to come and be within me. Well you can already guess, I asked and I RECEIVED!
Now spiritual warfare, that’s a biggy, but all I had to do was ask and I received. And before that moment I did believe in asking to receive, but I think I doubted that God really was going to take the time to help me win a game or make my paper cut stop hurting. I doubted those very small things actually mattered.
You know who does care about your game or paper cut that (at least as a kid) you’ll never doubt? Your mom and your dad!
And you know who is the ultimate daddy?? GOD!!
He wants to hear about your little things because he is our dad! And we’re His children! And as kids we believe everything our parents promise us! God promised to provide!
Are you getting pumped yet? I’m feeling pumped up about this!! Thinking about God’s promises get me so excited!!
Now I know this isn’t a long blog, but it doesn’t have to be. The same way we think we need to have this long thought out prayer when we ask for things from Jesus. It doesn’t have to be long! I worry about that a lot when writing blogs, like is it long enough. Who cares?! Jesus sure doesn’t care how long it is! And that’s who I’m writing through!
So I challenge you to go, ASK God for anything! Anything at all! And I want you to BELIEVE you will RECEIVE!!
