What has been your favorite food?

Rice and beans!! I eat them every day, most days twice a day, and I can’t ever get enough!!!!

What has been your least favorite food?

Well this one time we had fish but still with scales, eye balls, and bones all up in that bad boy! Not pleasant!

What’s something new you have learned that you can apply and use when you get home (it can be a new cooking technique, a new worship song, a new way to build something, etc etc- anything)?!

That’s a hard one! Probably….. my freedom in how I worship! I have really realized how much I love to dance when I worship! (Well I love dancing in general) but dancing during worship is so freeing for me!

What’s a scrumptious smell you smelled?

Loved this question! Here in my Costa Rica base that we’re staying at, our cook that makes us dinner every night, well her cooking is THE BEST! And it smells amazing every night!!!

For your blog, what is one way that God has made you angry while on the field and how has working through that with God grown you?

This is such a good question! I worked through a lot of healing with left over emotions and pain from my time in the DR and being in Nicaragua brought all those things back up. I was angry at God for not only making me (what felt like) reliving the DR but making me make close relationships with these kids and then leaving them al over again. I was angry that he would heal me and then do it all over again. I was angry that he would let me hurt again over the same thing I literally just finished healing from. Like literally just finished! And I’ve grown a lot putting ALL of my trust in him because of that. I trust him to walk with me down this path of healing (again). And just because it hurts doesn’t mean he’s trying to hurt me.

How long have you gone without a shower?

Actually only two days! Which is SUCH A BLESSING!!!!! We’ve had running water everywhere we’ve gone. Even though our first month the water was coming straight from the lake we lived on. So I was bathing in lake water but I still got a shower!

Eaten anything odd?

Probably the same fish mentioned before…. I hated that thing!

One of your favorite memories?

One of my favorite memories would probably be this one time me and  about seven of the people on my team we’re on the roof. We were start gazing and we all just sang and worshipped up there together! It was so peaceful and healing!

A verse that has been meaningful for your trip?

Matthew 7:7

Just ask and it will be given to you; seek after it and you will find. Continue to knock and the door will be opened for you.

Have any guys caught your eye?

I’ve seen a few in passing… but it’s not like I’ve talked to any ??

Favorite type of ministry/service work?

So far, working in the schools! It’s sports month here in Costa Rica. So as part of ministry here we’ve been going to a bunch of different schools and setting up, up to, 8 different activities and we do rotations with A BUNCH of groups of kids. From grades pre-k to 6th. It’s so much fun!

Have you bought anything for your mom yet?

Yes indeed I have! But you won’t see it till I’m back!

What’s something that has become normal for you that isn’t American normal?

Sweeping and moping a room three times before saying it’s clean! We thought it was so weird back in Nicaragua, but do it without even thinking about it now! Also, you know how in the states, whenever someone asks you how you are, we just say good no matter what we’re feeling. Well here they say “I’m good, thanks to god, and you?” Well I’ve picked that up too! And they say it so fast because it’s just a habit!

Something you haven’t liked?

That’s a much harder question than I expected it to be! I honestly don’t think there’s really been anything I haven’t liked.

What is the funniest and/or most embarrassing moment you and/or your team have experienced as foreigners in Central America?

Sorry to disappoint but we really haven’t…. it’s so westernized here that we’ve been able to get around real easy and the people here are so used to tourists, that anything we do that isn’t cultural, they don’t care or even notice really….

When are you coming home?

April 29th! Start your countdowns! Cause I won’t be! 😉

What do you like to do in your free time in Costa Rica!

I love just exploring the city! Finding new stores, and hiking! Even getting stranded for three hours! That’s fun too! ;P

Zoe, any dances over there?

Non that we’ve learned or seen culturally. But we have done a BUNCH of Zumba over here! Costa Rican’s love their Zumba!!
