“I’m raising $5000.00 for a mission trip to Peru.” Words I know will hold true. As a young girl, my Great-Granny Jones Prophesied over me that someday I would minister over many. At the time, I had no idea what she was talking about or what any of what she was saying really meant. Surely, through my walk with God, I developed a deeper understanding of what that looked like over time and through daily circumstances. As a result, the words she spoke became a part of me, sprouting purpose like a seed had been planted.

In grade school, I shared ideas and desires of mission work to my mom and she would say, “well you know Granny Jones always said you’d have your own ministry, go for it!” So, I would, but I always left wanted to do more.

In college, I searched mission’s trips, volunteered at churches and joined faith-filled organizations and I had the time of my life. I met other believers that felt and thought the same way; in organizations, I even met some people that were able to introduce me to some missionary opportunities. Things were turning around and I finally had the opportunity to do what I always wanted… but what do they all say, “but in Gods timing” (Ecclesiastes 3:17) Between rehearsals, tests, apartment rent, and not to mention trying to graduate “on time” there was no way I could commit to a mission trip. I had to face the fact that it wasn’t in God’s plan for me to go at that time and I had to walk in his timing.

Once I slowed down and listened to the Lord’s instructions, I had an opportunity to learn even more about what mission trips were, I was both shocked and excited! “I can do what? I have an opportunity to serve God by teaching his word through outreach, in conversation, craft, and bible study? Oh, and I can do all of this by experiencing and absorbing God’s creation? Say, Less! Sign me up (Adventures in Missions).”

As I said, for many years, I have applied or shown interest in mission trips but it just has not been the right timing. This time I actually heard from God, his desire for me to go into the field and share my gift of teaching, spreading the gospel, and sharing my talents [to express the] testimonies he’s given me. These are all task and actions that sound like a dream turned to reality with the partnership of you and Adventures in Missions. Now I have the opportunity to handle bigger tasks, beyond the limits of my community, across the world and potentially alter my perspective and have an impact on those in need. I took the first step towards making this vision of serving in Trujillo, Peru into a reality. Now with the help of my family, friends, and community (near & far), we are brought together to help me reach my goal of $5000 by January 2019. If you have it in your heart [and budget] to contribute to my journey please send your donations. Every dollar speaks volume!
