Why is opening day my favorite and why am I blogging about it?

My favorite time of year is here it’s opening day, and yes I know I’m a few days late.  As a sports fan it is a good time of year some seasons are winding down about to start playoffs while others are just getting started.  Baseball is my favorite sport, and opening day was this past Thursday.  When baseball starts to me is a sign of things to come, like warmer weather, beautiful flowers blooming, and more light.  Opening day is like a holiday to me, everyone is even and hope is abound.

As a San Francisco Giants fan opening day couldn’t come soon enough.  The Giants have been one of the worst teams in baseball the last couple of years.  While I don’t see them winning the World Series this year opening day gives me hope.  The Giants aren’t in a giant hole yet, they are on an evening playing field.  They haven’t lost any games yet, haven’t won either but there is a fresh start.  A wise man once told me in baseball you will win 50 games and lose 50 games it’s what you do during those 62 remaining games that matters.

Much like baseballs opening day my relationship with God is opening day.  When I accepted Christ as my savior it erased all of my losses/ sins of previous seasons.  I was given a clean slate with no losses.  While I will acquire sin or losses during my life/ season, God’s grace has forgiven those losses.

God so loved the world that he gave his only son, that whoever believes in him should not perish but have eternal life.  John 3:16

As a human I will go thru rough seasons and acquire losses, and I will have good seasons and acquire wins.  But because God loved me and has forgiven me of my losses every day is opening day.  I have expectations that I won’t perish, but will be seated at the right hand of Jesus.

Just like the Giants have hope that they won’t finish in last place and win the World Series.  Opening day brings about expectations and gives you the clean slate.  Thank you God for your grace and for forgiveness of my losses.  Thank you for always being there for me even during those rough seasons.  Thank you for loving me that you sacrificed your only son for me.  I love you God and thank you for making every day my opening day.

I just want to say thank you to all of you that are reading my blogs and praying for me as I am getting ready to enter into this new season of my life.  I am still in need of funds to go on this journey please continue to pray about it.  Be on the look out in the next week or so on a couple of fundraisers.  Please continue to pray about me and my team as we get ready for training camp and launch.

Love you guys.  Tristen
