Hi honey, I’m home! 72 hours, buses, trains, 5 flights, and a song tao later we have finally made it to Chiang Mai! I have spent the past 3 days hopping from place to place, patiently waiting, sprinting through airports to get on our next flight, napping on floors, and eating a strange variety of foods. A group of about 50 Americans in foreign countries, carrying gigantic backpacks and trying to navigate airports is definitely guaranteed to attract a lot of attention. I have come to the conclusion that we look like a very large, traveling circus. Travel days are fun, but so incredibly weird. Does time even exist? What day is it? Also, I still haven’t entirely figure out how time zones work. You’re telling me that I’m getting up for breakfast and my family and friends are getting ready for bed? crazy. But we’re finally here! Touched down in Thailand just last night. When I tell you it is surreal, I absolutely mean it. I have prayed for this day for over a year – waited, hoped, worried. And I’m actually here!!!!
I was having my morning chat with Abba & He filled me with such a sense of peace about where I’m at. He said, “I got you here, didn’t I?” Hearing this, I knew He didn’t mean to Thailand, or even The World Race at all. But He has gotten me to a place of absolute confidence in Him. For the month leading up to the race, I stressed, worried, mourned, and even doubted my father. I worried if this was the right decision or if I would ever get to a point where I could let go of the things back home. And this morning, sitting on the floor in our little home in Chiang Mai, where I can sit by the window and look out at the busy city down below, I felt so present with Jesus. I couldn’t even try to contain the smile on my face, and just thanked Him over and over again. I am so in awe of our creator, and I just want more and more of Him everyday. I am so joyful stepping into this next season of life. And that is where I’m at!
