My squad mentor, Megan, challenged me to sit down and write a blog post explaining the reason as to why I am going on the World Race. So, that’s a good question, why AM I going on the World Race? Why exactly am I putting my life on hold for nine months?
First, I believe our purpose in this world is to know God, and to make Him known. A lot of the times, when you first meet someone really cool, you want to get to know them more and more, and you wanna make sure everyone knows that you got to be around them. You always find yourself talking about them to everyone else. “Hey, (insert name) is such a cool guy! He’s so awesome to be around! You’ve gotta meet this guy, you’ll love him!” And I think that’s exactly how it is with Jesus. The more you get to know Him, the more you want other people to know Him! I want others to know the love of Christ. Not just to know OF Him, but to have a deep, personal & intimate relationship with our Creator. To be able to experience the absolute life change & overwhelming heart transformation that the father does within us. There are people in our world who are dying every day without knowing their Father. People who are dead, broken, and hurt, who have yet to be renewed by Jesus. While I don’t think you have to go all the way across the world in order to do this, I can’t help but feel that God is calling me elsewhere. I’ll be able to share the Gospel with people who have probably never even heard of Him. Jesus calls us to make disciples, and this is a command that I can’t ignore.
To say that I’m doing something out of my comfort zone is an understatement. But God also calls us to live a life of abandonment – and we can’t grow much where we’re comfortable. Spending 9 months away from family and friends, living out of a backpack, and denying myself every day will no doubt grow me closer to Him. God wants us to push boundaries. He wants us to put everything aside in order to pursue him wholeheartedly. And that’s exactly what I plan on doing. I’m in a stage of my life where I am experiencing the most growth, finding out who I really am, and where I want to be, and the best way to do that is alongside my sweet, sweet father. I want to pursue Him above all other earthly desires.
Can’t forget to mention that I’ll gain a family of 45 JESUS LOVING BROTHERS & SISTERS (Gap Y- BEST SQUAD), be able to make relationships with people all over the world, and get to explore God’s BEAUTIFUL creation!!! (I just had to read that back- EEP I JUST GOT THE CHILLS)
While I could go on and on and on about why I’m going on the World Race, here are just a few reasons. Thank you to everyone who has supported me, it means the world. T-3 ½ months till launch!!!
All the love,
Taylor Morgan
