Pretty good clickbait, right? That’s not a lie though, my team, the boys team and I have been doing ministry with Impact Africa and we’re staying in an old prison in Pietermaritzburg. Fun fact: Nelson Mandela served some of his sentence in this prison as well as Ghandi’s wife. Anyways, I just wanted to give a brief explanation of the ministry my mega team and I have been doing since moving to Impact Africa in Johannesburg.
I have only worked with Impact for about two weeks and I already know they are an amazing ministry. A few of their main focuses are evangelicalism in squatter camps, baby rescue programs and J-kids (a kids camp). I only stayed at the Impacts base for three days and did two days of regular ministry before we moved to the prison, so I’ve only been able to do one of their ministry focuses. The ministry we had was evangelism in a squatter camp and let me tell you, it was amazing. I saw so many salvations and healings in the short two days of ministry! It was so cool that we got to build relationships with the locals and spread the good news all over Johannesburg. My faith was stretched so much in the short time we had, I can’t wait to see how God moves for the next month we have at Impact.
I’m currently in Pietermaritzburg in an old prison. Ministry looks slightly different here but just as fruitful. Most of our ministry has looked like us going to schools all over the surrounding cities and preaching to kids and students. We’ve preached and led a few church services and did a little bit of community outreach as well. At the schools we usually preform something called “The Everything skit ( if you look this up on YouTube you can probably find a video of it if you’re curious, I play ‘the girl.’ And just a warning, the skit deals with some pretty intense stuff.)” , share a testimony and then do a short little message. And then we finish off with some fun dances and hanging out with the students. This ministry has challenged me so much but it’s been amazing to see how much God can still use me even when I don’t feel like I can do well.
As I’m posting this blog, I have about 4 weeks left in South Africa. Africa has been amazing and it been so cool to see how God moves in this country.
Prayer Requests:
A stronger desire to spend time with God.
To continue to stay present in my ministry and to not look at it as a job.
