Hello everyone and welcome to my blog! I am so excited to announce that I am going on the World Race Gap Year next September! I will be going in South Africa, Ecuador, and Cambodia over the span of nine months pursuing my calling and spreading the love of Jesus Christ. As I’ve been telling my friends and family the news, I have gotten a lot of questions about why I’m doing this and I hope this answers some of your questions.
When I was twelve years old, I went on my first trip to Haiti. Instantly, I feel in love with missions. Every since that trip, I’ve gone to Haiti every summer to the same orphanage to put on a Vacation Bible School for the kids. Every year that I went back reignited my passion for serving and spreading the love of Jesus. By my second trip to Haiti, I knew this was something God wanted me to do this for the rest of my life.
After I felt that call to missions, I continued to go back to Haiti every year but I didn’t think much of it. I knew I loved Haiti and I loved serving but I looked at it as if it was going to be a “side job.” I tried to write out this perfect plan for my life as a successful occupational therapist with a happy, stable family. My plan was perfect and exactly what I wanted, but God had different plan. That season of my life were I thought I was in control was horrible. Finally after months of being miserable and consumed with anxiety I broke down. I realized that I need to let God write my story. When I finally understood this, I was overwhelmed with God’s peace and love. My plan was nothing compared to the beautiful plan he already picked out for me.
Over this past summer, I worked on pursuing God and not worrying about my future. Once I finally let go and learned to trust completely in God, God opened a new door revealing what he wanted for me. That new door was the World Race! After a lot of prayer, I felt that this is what God wants me to do now. I don’t know what my life will look like after the race, but this is what God wants me to do now and that’s all I need.
I am so excited to start this journey with you. Please subscribe for updates when I post. If you have an questions, feel free to reach out. Thank you so much!
