With only two weeks left in Guatemala. I decided a blog about the weirdness of God was only appropriate. It has been the best word to describe how God is moving in me, my team, and in Guatemala. Now, when I say weird, it is not a bad thing. On the contrary, it is wonderful and beautiful. God is beautifully weird. Let me explain.

Throughout the bible, you read about how the Holy Spirit moves and Jesus performed miracles, yet in today’s world we don’t believe that happens anymore. I used to think like that as well. But why?  Why do we box in God when He gives us a whole book about His faithfulness and power? Now, here is where His weirdness comes in. HE STILL DOES MIRACLES! My team and I have witnessed God move so much in Guatemala. One day during ATL (ask the Lord)  we prayed for the Lord to guide us and we got pulled to this house with children. The mom is there and we are asking if we can pray for her. She invites us in and asks for different prayers. She then asks for healing in her knees, shoulders, and her arm. Her arm was bent and hurting from a machine accident… So we pray over her body and the pain leaves. Except for her bent arm. We rejoiced that her body was healed and thanked God for healing. Then we prayed for just her arm. May and I were holding it and she explained that she can’t stretch it past a certain point. As we are holding her arm and praying, we can feel the bones moving. The pain is gone but she still can’t stretch it or lift her arm too high. So we pray again. She then has no more pain and she lifted her arms and started praising God. She was in pain for 15 years and now it is all gone and she can praise God with her arms fully extended…isn’t that beautifully weird? God keeps doing miracle after miracle here.
The God doing miracles and healings here is the same God back in the states and the same God in the Bible. What?!

Here is something else I find beautifully weird. His love for us. We box in God or don’t believe in Him at all, yet He still loves us. He still never leaves our side. He is still waiting for you to take that step of faith into His arms so He can hold His child. I have seen His love through my team. I am reminded that the love I have for my team, as well as the people of Guatemala. God loves us even more than any love we could imagine. Crazy right?! We don’t deserve His love, yet He still chooses us and calls us His. The same God that has all of this power and authority calls us His CHILDREN! HIS HEIRS!! I don’t know about you guys, but my mind is blown.

God hasn’t changed. He never will change. He is the same God yesterday, today, and tomorrow.

That’s beautifully weird.
