Church in Mokhotlong is really cool. They worship for an hour straight and it’s intense. The entire church gets up and sings. And It doesn’t matter how old they are, everybody gets up and dances like there’s no tomorrow. Their love for the Lord is absolutely incredible. It amazed me to see even the elders of the church get up in front of everyone and dance because of their joy. They create an atmosphere for the Holy Spirit to move within their village and that has become so evident in the days following church.
We’ve gone to help with soup kitchens and we’ve seen three salvations at them so far. We’ve also gone to a hospital to pray for patients and saw three salvations there so far. Laying hands and praying for patients who have lost all hope has been so rewarding. Their faces light up as they begin to understand how much you care for them. Some have have even received physical healing from the Lord through our prayers. It’s been such an eventful month and we’ve only been here nine days. I haven’t even gotten to tell you about going to prison yet.
We were invited as a team to go to the local prison of Mokhotlong. Before we even made it into the prison we could here the inmates singing and drumming from outside the walls. As we walked into the prison yard we realized they were singing praises to the Lord because you could hear the occasional “hallelujah” and “Hosanna” amongst the Sotho lyrics. They only had homemade drums and “tambourines” made from broom sticks, bottle caps, and wires yet you’ve never heard a more beautiful sound in your life than an entire prison yard full of inmates singing to the Lord like they were. Our team shared some testimonies and one message and immediately after we had an alter call. Let me paint the picture for you.
My team of six and two other teams of six have joined together this month to form one big team of 18 people including one mentor. All nineteen of us were seated in the middle of the prison yard in plastic chairs. We were completely surrounded by Sotho inmates who watched our every move and listened to our every word like their very lives depended on it. As a few of my teammates shared their testimonies and messages you could feel the Holy Spirit was on the move. As we wrapped up, a local pastor of Mokhotlong that we have partnered with walked to the middle of the yard and asked all the inmates if they wanted to accept Jesus, and one by one right there in front of the whole prison 5 inmates walked out and accepted Jesus. I must admit that as I watched the sons of God come forth to be saved I cried very much like baby. I was overwhelmed at what God was doing. You could see in their faces that they completely understood the need for Jesus. Although I was not allowed to take pictures of the moments in the prison I will never forget that day. Praise God.
So, if you counted you now know that my team and I have seen 11 salvations total upon arriving in Lesotho. That means we’re averaging over one salvation a day. As soon as you read this, partner with us and pray that God would continue this amazing work and that we could maintain at least this average (pray for even more). Get your families and friends and even church families involved. God’s moving here In Lesotho and I’m asking you to be a part of it through prayer and interceding. Will you please? I’ll be posting updates on wether or not we’re maintaining this average so please pray hard!
