Hi!! This is going to be a short and sweet blog post, but I am super excited to share with you a moment that I saw the sovereignty of the Lord.

I shared in my previous blog that I was excited to share about a moment that the Lord was so evident to me in a time of unscheduled ministry, and here it is!

It was a day last week that we were asked to help out at a local school to help fundraise for their classes with special needs. They have a couple classes that are packed full, and they don’t have a ton of funding for these classes, so I was so happy to help out. A couple of my team mates and I arrived at the school around 8 AM and made our way to the classrooms. Or rather tried to make our way there, but we were bombarded in the best way by hundreds of smiling faces. I can’t explain how much joy everyone carries with them – it is contagious! I was hugged more times than I could count, and I tried desperately to remember all of their names. One little girl in particular came up and tapped me so I turned around and asked her what her name was. She looked at me with a puzzled look, and then ran away. I got a weird feeling (hello Holy Spirit!!), so I followed her and saw that she ran into a corner and was signing with a few friends. Now, let me say this now, I am in NO way even close to being fluent in ASL (American Sign Language), but I know enough that I can communicate a bit. I was weary about trying since I didn’t know if Filipino Sign language was similar or not, but I sat down with them and began signing with them – asking them their names and what not – and y’all they lit up. It was the sweetest moment. From that moment on, we were friends.

It was about a year ago that I had this random desire to learn sign language. I didn’t really know why, and I didn’t spend much time on it, but I learned bits and pieces and now I know why. At the time, I didn’t know that a year later I would be in the Philippines, in a small elementary school, sitting in a corner with children with hearing impairments and only be able to communicate through sign language, but the Lord did and put that desire in me to that He could bless both me and the children. He is so good! He is sovereign and works all things together perfectly. It seriously blows me away when He reveals little things like this to me in His perfect timing. All glory to God.

“I remain confident of this: I will see the goodness of the Lord in the land of the living. Wait for the Lord; be strong and take heart and wait for the Lord.”

Psalm 27:13-14

I ask for prayers as we continue to follow the Lord wherever He leads us. It is in the unknown that I experience Him the strongest, so join me in praying for more of these times.

Praying for you specifically!

Sam
