COMIN’ AT YA LIVE FROM NSOKO, SWAZILAND!!!

What is ministry? What does ministry look like here? Is it what I expected? Do I like it? What am I even doing here? I have gotten a million of questions about ministry, so I figured the best way to answer all of these questions would be to write a blog.

The word ministry can mean and look like a million different things. Ministry is basically any action that spreads the kingdom of God. It can look like preaching, teaching, loving on kids, a simple conversation or even just being a pair of listening ears.

Since our entire squad (all 6 teams) are living together here, each team goes somewhere different for ministry everyday. Adventures in Missions has a base (where we live) and several different carepoints set up here, which are facilities that teach and hand out food to hundreds and hundreds of kids during the week. During our time in Swaziland, our ministry is working at our given carepoints Tuesday-Friday. My Teams’ carepoint is right behind our base so we get to just walk there every day. At our care point we have a preschool and a primary school, so we get to work with lots of kids.

Our mornings normally start with two of us going to the office and helping the ladies that work there with whatever they need. The rest of us hangout with the kids who are not in class or just talk with our shepard, but just come to the care point. Around 12 we have our lunch break for an hour. We just walk back to the kitchen and make whatever is there to make. Around 1 we go back and we can do a variety of things.

Sometimes we get to be their jungle gym

Other days we bring all of the kids out to the soccer field and teach them american games.

This is our shepard, he’s the one who runs the base. He gives us tasks and we give him an extra hand in anything that might need to get done.

Then two of us around 3 go back to base and help start cooking with Dolly. SInce my team has the carepoint right next to base, we also get to help cook for the entire squad Tuesday-Friday. Which if you know me, ccoking is not a talent of mine so it’s actually been super fun learning how to (don’t worry I haven’t burnt down the kitchen…. yet)

Overall I absolutley love ministry. I have already learned so much and have grown in so many new areas. My favorite parts of the week is when I walk up to a new day of ministry and all you see is little kids just running at you so excited to even see you. I’ve grown to know so many locals here. Every single person I have met so far have been so kind, loving and welcoming. It honestly shocked me how excited everyone is to always see us. It’s only been a few weeks but I have fallen completely in love with Swaziland and it’s people. I never knew a place so far from home could feel so much like home. Honestly 3 months here doesn’t seem enough.
