A question that is often asked is, “why the World Race?” As you heard in my video announcement (if you haven’t, check it out in the link below) it’s always been on my heart, my dream, and goal of mine to be a full time missionary. So why not the World Race? It’s the best opportunity that will take me exactly where I need to be to do exactly what I am made to do.
A question better directed towards me personally would be “why a missionary?” Other than the obvious reason that I LOVE Jesus, I firmly believe that the passions we have are not just coincidence. The dreams, the things that drive us to do the impossible, the things that make us light up from the inside simply from someone mentioning said ‘thing’, these life giving passions didn’t just happen to fall into our laps without a purpose. We were made to live them out. If you love rock climbing, do that and do it often. If you love to fly, aim to get your pilots license or join the Air Force. If you love animals, entertain the idea of being a vet. You never know unless you try. Take your passions and your dreams, no matter how crazy they seem and press into them. Make them happen for yourself!
I’ve tried out my passions and learned quickly that being a force of nature, traveling the world telling people how loved they are, is exactly what I’m made to do! I’ve had the opportunity to go on a few missions trips already with the purpose of being the hands and feet of Jesus. It’s such a great and pivotal statement when sharing the gospel and walking out this new life, but it doesn’t stop there.
I realized my calling at a young age. I tried it out but never fully pursued it. I love to see the world and being a part of missions but never could fathom or even begin to understand how it could evolve into a lifestyle let alone a career. It was just a dream of mine. Even though it may not make sense and it can be absolutely terrifying…be BRAVE. Take the next step. Go all in. Do not stop until you are living out your passions. You’re dreams can become your reality. Pray about it. Ask for the impossible. He did it for me and He will certainly do it for you.
Once accepted to the World Race the Lord decided to change my perspective on the cliche yet relative saying of being the “hands and feet” of Jesus. I kept hearing one of Sean Feucht’s newest songs, “Heart and Hands”, and I was shown something so exciting. Before the World Race launches I hope you as a reader, myself included can truly let this sink in and bring new life to your passions, careers, and lives.
To be the hands and feet of Jesus means showing love and compassion, meeting the needs of others, forgiving, and sharing grace and mercy. It means walking this out daily and to all people no matter their background, religion, race, gender, nation, color, or past.
To be the heart and hands of Jesus is knowing that He has already given us the way and the land that our feet will walk. And then having an unwavering faith that everything your hands touch and your heart desires for will come to be fulfilled just like every promise He has made. Wow! I’m going on the World Race with the mindset of “heart and hands”! These hands will heal people. These hands will free people from oppression, depression, and shame. These hands are a gift from God that I will not use in vain. These hands will carry out a legacy. They will build, they will teach, they will empower, love, and encourage. And this heart…. this heart will break for what breaks the Father’s. This heart will not stop until darkness is no longer found. My heart’s obsession will be Jesus! My heart will burn with a fire so hot that others are going to question my gifts and I will proudly and boldly display God as my victor, and Ruler of my hearts and hands. God has already paid the price and made the way for me to walk out the passions He’s given me to their fullest potential. I receive it, and I release it! He washed my feet and made me new so that I can honor His holy and perfect nature by living in it and not keeping silent.
I’m excited to be the heart and hands of Jesus! I’m living with the knowledge of what’s been prepared for me. I’m stepping out with a bold faith and fearless love. I’m being brave. I’m thankful for this heart of mine and these willing hands.
