We spent our 9th month of the race in Myanmar, a country I didn’t know much about until now. The first half of our time was spend in the city Yangon and the last half was spent on a remote beach called Maungmagan. We spent 10 days on this beach and didn’t meet a single Christian believer.

Freedom Bar was a place we hung out everyday because of the free wifi, 70 cent mango smoothies, & good conversations. We met travelers from all over the world. Yaou, Kitsune, Lena, and Leif are just some of the friends I met whose stories I got to hear. They all had something in common. They are all searching for something more, something greater than themselves. They are traveling because they weren’t satisfied with their lives before and they are in search of adventure, discovery, and fulfillment. The truth is what they are really searching for is Jesus.

C.S Lewis says “The fact that our heart yearns for something Earth can’t supply is proof that Heaven must be our home.” Which is what Ecclesiastes 3:11 is saying – “He has made everything beautiful in its time. Also, he has put eternity into man’s heart, yet so that he cannot find out what God has done from the beginning to the end.” God has put eternity in our hearts which means looking to things of this world for fulfillment just wont satisfy. Whether you are seeking truth, peace, freedom, hope, or love. Christ is ALL of this!!!

Truth

I am the way and the truth and the life. John 14:6

Peace

Peace I leave with you; my peace I give to you. Not as the world gives do I give you. Let not your hearts be troubled, neither let them be afraid. John 14:27

Freedom

So if the son sets you free you will be free indeed. John 8:36

Hope

We have this hope as an anchor for our soul, firm and secure. Hebrews 6:19

Love

Anyone who does not love does not know God, because God is love. 1 John 4:8

My heart’s breaking for these new friends at Freedom Bar because what they are searching for is Jesus, but they don’t want to know him. The cool thing about Christ though is that he shows himself to us but he doesn’t force himself upon us. So i’m trusting in God’s sovereignty that he will continue to water these seeds and purse these people just like he pursued me.
