Hello friends! I am here with a long awaited update for all of you. I am currently in the countdown to training camp. T minus 14 days until I will be in Georgia with the rest of my squad! It seems a little unreal that everything is approaching so quickly and that in less than 100 days I will be on an airplane heading to Africa, where does the time go?
Training camp is a 10 day intensive training to prepare me and my team for the year ahead of us. This will include team and relationship building, teachings, practicing scenarios that we may encounter on the Race, and of course lots and lots of prayer.
I am full of excitement for what this week has in store. I am ready to finally meet the people that are sure to become some of my closest friends and my family away from home. I am excited to sleep in tents and live out of my pack again. Over the past few summers, I have found that I feel most myself when I am on outside, especially over extended periods of time. With that being said, I am excited to step back into the sweet freedom I experience on trail and that I fail to experience the same way at home. I hope that over the 10 days at training camp and the year to come that I learn more about how to experience that same freedom regardless of where I am. I hope that my heart and my brain can learn to be on the same page in knowing God’s promises and knowing that they apply to me too. I hope that as I embark on this journey, you would come with me. Come experience the freedom and goodness being offered to you, because the real adventure isn’t the World Race, it is following Jesus.
I feel ready to be transformed and renewed this year. I want nothing more than for the Lord to give me His heart for the World. This is something I have been praying for years and I am beyond excited to see how He baffles me with what that really means. I look forward to learning and experiencing a great deal at training camp, but I am most excited that it is only the beginning. I trust that Lord has me right where He wants me and find it reassuring that His plans for me are far better than I could ever imagine and I am about to see a little of that plan unfold and I couldn’t be more excited!
