I’m searching. I’ve been searching for a feeling my whole life. Searching for peace, wholeness, understanding, and belonging. I hoped I would find it on the World Race.
But I’m beginning to realize that I won’t find these on The Race. The Race cannot soothe my aching soul, it cannot heal the stab wound I feel in my heart. Only Jesus can do that. I want to find Jesus on The Race, rather, I want Jesus to find me. To draw me into deeper water. I pray that Jesus will change me this year, and I’d love for y’all to pray that with me. I don’t want to come home only to realize I’m the same person I was before. This is a new beginning for me. I believe that Jesus will change me.
I had this dream about a month ago that changed my life. I wrote it out in a story form to share with y’all.
There’s a girl, with worms in her chest, eating away at her heart. She looks down at the wiggling, squirming tangle and panics.
“Get them out!!” She cries scratching at her chest. Jesus holds her hand, stares deeply in her eyes and says,
“This is going to hurt.” She nods her head and he reaches for her. With one
hand on the girl’s shoulder, and the other gripping a worm, he pulls. Her screams echo through the stagnant air.
“Wait! Stop!” The girl grabs Jesus’ hand with both of hers. “I can’t do this, it hurts too much. Just leave them, I can live with them.”
“I know this hurts, but you have to trust me. Yes, you can live with these slimy worms in your chest, but what kind of life is that? I want you to be free. The only way to be free is to let them go, and let me take them from you.” His voice is steady and reassuring. The girl nods her head softly and releases his hand.
Without making a face, Jesus pulls. He doesn’t stop until the worm is out of her chest and thrown into the lake of fire. Never again will it bother her again. The girl falls to the ground and breathes a sigh of relief.
Here’s to the worms, y’all. May we all experience the pain of Jesus removing the worms from our hearts that we may see Him clearly.
