Happy October!!! Hope you are all doing amazing!
Real talk, I have been struggling recently. Especially this past week. This is going to sound silly, but it’s added to a lot of my stress recently. My cute puppy is with me (he usually stays with my boyfriend) for a couple weeks and this past week, he ate some pretty expensive stuff of mine. He ate my stethoscope ($90) and my Chacos ($105) and a couple other things I’m really bummed about. He’s left in my room while I’m in classes and he usually just goes to sleep, but this past week clearly he didn’t sleep, he ate my stuff instead (he’s currently snoring right next to me…). But I am just frustrated because that’s like $200 I have to spend to fix all my stuff. Sooo I’m bummed, I’m also poor and a college student. The other thing is, I had a nursing test this morning and while my dog was eating all my stuff, I was studying and so my studying was a little off because I was worried about what he was eating. SO that just goes to show you that having a dog/a kid is a lot of work (my advice, don’t have dogs till you have a house and are out of school and have a job and money, just speaking from experience). I can’t even speak towards kid’s, but I can imagine they are 100x harder. But I love my dog despite this predicament.
Anyways, enough ranting from me. Through all this the Lord revealed something to me. Philippians 4:11-13 says, that I know what it means to be hungry and I know what it means to have plenty. Then it says that we can do all things through Christ who gives us strength. Contentment has nothing to do with money, it has everything to do with the God we serve (thanks Jeff). It doesn’t matter what I have, what I get, or what my dog eats, it’s through the Lord that I am going to find contentment.
I might be bummed, but the Lord has a plan and that has been a constant lesson he has been teaching me. I can find rest, peace, and contentment with my father.
I do have good news (You’re going to think I’m crazy). I am super pumped because I am only $380 away from $1000. Which seems like super crazy like y’all are probably thinking “Mackenzie you have to raise 19 of those”. I know! But it’s the little things! And to be honest, bracelet and T-Shirt sales probably make it about $1000. I’m just pumped! Thank you so much to all who have donated and given so far, y’all are great!
