Hey guys, my name is Kimberlyn Porter, my friends call me Kimbo, and I am 20 years old. My parents names are Ben and Janice. I have a younger brother, Parker (18), and a younger sister, Kelly (15). I also have three of the best dogs in the world—Bailey, Zola, and Ellis/pup-stuff. My family members are some of my biggest supporters. I have lived in the small (but awesome) town of Niceville, Florida since I was born, and was raised in a Christian home. In the middle of high school, I found my self in a really dark place. I was so busy chasing worldly things that I had forgotten who I really was, but God never stopped pursuing me. When I fully committed myself to Him, He completely changed my life. I have spent the last year and half chasing after him. I am very excited that He has led me to the World Race, where I will be joining Route 4, headed to Costa Rica, Cambodia, and Swaziland.
I feel called to share the good news of the Savior who changed my life with all people, like in Psalm 96:3, “Proclaim his glory to the nations, his mighty deeds to all peoples.” I am looking forward to sharing His word, and love with people all across the world. I am eager to learn more about our God and His plans for my life, while simultaneously getting to study other cultures around the world.
Looking ahead there many things that can be scary and worrisome. I have never been away from my family for longer than 2 weeks, I know I am going to miss them greatly, but what if I have to come home because of that? What if I get sick? Are the places I am going safe? The list goes on, but I can find peace in God’s word.
“For God has not given us a spirit of fear, but of power, love, and a sound mind.” (2 Timothy 1:7)
“When anxiety was great within me, your consolation brought joy to my soul.” (Psalm 94:19)
“Have I not commanded you? Be strong and courageous. Do not be afraid, for the Lord your God will be with you wherever you go.” (Joshua 1:9)
