Sou sor-dey! Hello!

I’m currently sitting in a coffee shop in Kampong Thom, loading up on coffee, enjoying the AC, and taking the time to reflect on what the Lord has done this past week! So here I am! Writing my first blog! (bear with me haha)

First, I’m going to talk about my amazing team and what the Lord has taught me through this community! We sleep, eat, teach, love, play, and live at the orphanage! I wake up to the sound of roosters, music, and laughter from the children outside of our room. When I step outside, the kids greet me with their best grins yelling, “Good morning C-A-T! Meow, meow! Cat!”… I can’t bear to tell them it’s spelled with a K hahah. They are the some of the most considerate, loving, and generous kids I have ever met. During the day, my wonderful team is in charge of school for these kids. We teach them English, play games, and sing songs of worship! To love and be loved by them is such a beautiful thing.

The other night, during our dance party with the children, the Lord gave me a sweet reminder! One of the boys, Sam Young grabbed my hand and pulled me in the middle of the group to dance! In that moment God reminded me that this is how He is with us! He enters into the middle of our mess. He is the Emmanuel: God with us! And in that, He reminded me that I need to stop doing things FOR Him, and start doing things WITH Him. He enjoys dancing with us, singing with us, sitting with us, and walking with us… A father that delights in the presence of His children! Something I cannot understand, but I’m so grateful for!

Lastly, I ask for prayers for me, my team, and the people of Cambodia. This country, although beautiful, is filled with a lot of poverty and pain which has been hard to see. Many needs are not being met, and I just wish I could do more. But God has called me here to share His love… So I’m taking each hour as it comes, giving Him my little as He makes up for my lack!

Thank you for all the love and prayers! I am beyond grateful!
