OH HEY! I’M KATE! I’M HAPPY YOU’RE HERE!
some of you may be asking “what’s the World Race?” “how’d you know this is the right thing?” or “why take a year off?” i’m here to settle it all and tell you about my journey and next steps.
i will officially be taking a year off to do the World Race Gap Year with Adventures in Missions. the World Race Gap Year is a nine month mission trip that goes around the world to share the Gospel and further the Kingdom of God! this upcoming year, i’ll be traveling on Route 5 to south africa, ecuador, and cambodia to serve and share Christ in schools, churches, poor communities, and in the streets. we will be living&working alongside ministry hosts, churches, and missionaries to learn and support their work. i’ve been dreaming about the World Race and now its official!
when I first started highschool, I really had no idea what I wanted to do or where I wanted to go in life. if you would have told me three years ago that I would be taking a year off to pursue missions, I would’ve laughed! God was apart of my life, but i didn’t believe He ACTUALLY would use me for his work. but during my sophomore year, God opened my eyes on a mission trip to Scotland. He showed me that there is a greater need in the world other than myself. since then, His calling on my life to serve has grown into a passion && lifestyle.
this past summer, i was called to serve in Uganda for 5 weeks. it was here that i audibly heard God tell me to pick up my cross and follow for a year! after months of going back and forth during my junior year, He used my friends, family, and my experiences in Uganda to show me that His next steps: to be out of my comfort zone && go into the unknown.
in isaiah 52:7, it says, “how beautiful on the mountains are the feet of those who bring good news, who proclaim peace, who bring good tidings, who proclaim salvation, who say to Zion, “your God reigns!” this verse resonates with me because encapsulates everything we’re called to do. ( SO COOL RIGHT?) God has placed a call on every person to bring the good news, proclaim the peace, and share the salvation from the one and true God that reigns. this verse literally lays out everything God has called me to do this next year! God revealed that He has placed a mantle of service and leadership on my life and it’s time to step out of my expectations and follow Him.
so, as i walk into a year of fundraising, embracing His plan, and fully relying on His faithfulness, i invite you to join me! pray for me! dance alongside me! this journey isn’t mine alone, it’s all for His shared glory. i utterly have no idea what to expect, but i know it’s got to be good. the Lord is faithful in His promises and He works all things good for His people and kingdom. REJOICE for the revival is here my friends!
