I am so excited to finally share about something that the Lord has set in motion in my life over the past few months. I have been sensing a calling to take a break from the normal routine of college and spend some time intentionally chasing after God’s heart for me and for the world.

So what does that look like, you ask? Let me tell you.

I have realized more and more lately that God has given me a heart for missions, and this spring I will be taking a semester off from Calvin and heading down to Costa Rica and Nicaragua for just over three months to partner with Adventures in Missions and their World Race Semesters program!

In Costa Rica I will live and serve with my team at the Adventures in Missions base where I will learn to share the Gospel while doing outreach to local villages. We will have the opportunity to lead Vacation Bible School-style camps and serve in impoverished neighborhoods, as well as helping with improvement projects around the base.

In Nicaragua, there are a large number of people who know the Gospel, though there is great poverty and political unrest. While I am there, my team and I will be focused on relationship building with abandoned children over sports, English lessons, and arts and crafts. The children are wounded but still have childlike joy and just crave the opportunity to be kids.

I am so excited to be a vessel this spring to spread God’s love in purposeful ways, and I can only imagine the effect it will have on my own life in expanding my worldview and impacting my personal faith journey. The countdown is on, and January 24 will be here before I know it, and I am so excited! But before I can go on this amazing adventure, I need to reach some financial goals.

If you believe in this mission and want to contribute to my passion for being the hands and feet of Jesus in Central America, would you consider supporting me in prayer and possibly also through donating to the expenses related to my trip? I have some plans in the works for some specific fundraisers, but by clicking the “Donate!” button at the top of this webpage you can donate directly to my mission trip and help me get started toward this big goal of $4,400 (wowza)!

God has already been teaching me about the humility and dependency that fundraising requires. But even though fundraising is a big task, I believe that we serve a big God, and I feel so affirmed that this is what he is asking of me right now that I fully trust that he will provide.

Whew, if you made it this far THANKS FOR READING! I will be posting updates on this blog as I prepare for this mission trip as well as while I am out in the field.

All my love,

Jordan
