You guys have heard about my team for weeks now but I was told recently that I haven’t introduced them properly to you. So, without any farther delays and hopefully a strong wifi connection you guys will getvthe chance to read all about them and learn a little bit more about these amazing Godly women I’ve been serving beside and growing with this past month here in Nicaragua. Our first month together has been a wonderful experience of growth and learning how we all interact with each other. We’ve only been together for a little over a month but at times it feels like we have been together a lot longer. I’ll give you guys a glimpse into who each lovely lady is, so continue reading and enjoy!!

WE ARE GROOT!!!

Catherine Choquette: This wonderful young lady joins our team from Central Square, New York. She is the youngest on our team at 22. So naturally her nickname is Baby Groot. Which is great because she actually doesn’t like nicknames and is totally fine with this one, so score one for team GROOT!!! She is actually the first person on my team that I bonded with and she had become one of the closest people I have formed a relationship with so far. She has been here for me when I needed to talk but didn’t want to. She reminds me of my best friend back home in her personality as well as her mannerisms.

Gabby Cabrera: Gabby is normally found up bright and early doing a workout on the basketball court. She is the 2nd youngest on our team coming in at 25 years old. She is one if the few people on our squad from California. This lively lady is from Escondido, California. She prefers to be at the beach but can totally be content in the mountains. She has such a passion for God that it’s inspiring and I’m beyond excited to see how she grows throughout this year together.

Kendra Winnick: She is our team leader. She actually has done the race previously and has decided to come alongside us and help us grow and step into our footing as we begin our journey on the world race. She is such an inspiration to us as a team. The way she intentionally loves on us and calls us to be better because that’s what we have been called to do. It’s truly inspiring and eye opening. She hails from Coeur d’Alene, Idaho. She’s also 26 years old.

Then there’s me…

Jamie Hart: Born and raised in Evansville, Indiana. I’m normally found coming along side my squad mates in their ministry or stepping up to be a point person qhen I’m passionate about something (future blog post coming). I’m currently 29. I tend to challenge my team to dive deeper into the old testament so they can understand different references in the nee testament.

Tiffiny Durham: This wonderful Godly woman is Newcastle, Nebraska. She’s 31 and we’ve given her the nickname Ranger. Simply because she has been  forest park ranger for the last several years. She had called me out on my crap more times than I would like to admit it but I’m truly grateful for her. She also has this 6th sense to know when someone is hurting or in pain and normally comes and asks me how I’m doing. You all know that I’ll just push through the pain and not voice anything. Well, with Ranger she literally pulls that information out of me on the daily and I’m grateful for her.

Tee Nguyen: This wonderful woman is a fire cracker!!! Don’t let her size fool you. She comes off all sweet and innocent until you get past that hard outter shell and see just how lively she truly is. In all seriousness though she usca fabulous person to just sit and have a 1 on 1 with. She will listen to you and bring different questions to you that you might not have thought of before. She’s from Arlington, Virginia and is 33. Fun fact about this woman this morning she had too much coffee and she literally been hugging everyone on our team and she bull charged Gabby for a hug. It was hilarious!

Lan Ngo: This Godly woman is a nurse and let’s be honest my accident prone self could always use 1 around. She is also another lady that hails from sunny California, specifically Sacramento. She has so much depth and wisdom. I’m looking forward to learning from her during our time together. So just recently had a birthday so she is now 36 years old.

Yes our team name comes from Guardians of the Galaxy. Why do you ask? Sinple, back during training camp when we first were given our teams, our squad mentor gave us a word and that word is Love. Every where we kept seeing trees and some people even saw trees in their dreams. Several of the speakers used trees and roots as examples during their lectures at training camp.  So we, as a team, were trying to think of a name that involved roots and incorporated the word love. Tee was looking on her phone and had a picture of Groot pulled up a nd everyone instantly agreed. If you have ever seen Guardians of the Galaxy you know that Groot loves his friends deeply to the point of dying for them. So we are rooted in Christ and will continue to grow in Hin and through loving one another. We are GROOT!!
