Hey ya’ll! Fundraising update then gonna get down to the good stuff you guys are curious about.
The past month has been a whirlwind of emotions in preparing for launch. Which by the way is in less then 8 weeks, less than 2 months, or 57 days before parent launch in June down in Atlanta, GA. After parent launch I’ll head to training camp in Gainesville, GA for roughly 10 days. Where my squad will be broken up into smaller teams among our squad and this team is who I’ll be traveling with for most of my trip until we switch up teams about half way in. A few weeks ago my squad got our squad color and letter. Well most squad got what they wanted… we didn’t get the color orange, even though it’s my favorite color, nope our squad color is RED???? and our squad letter is V! After my squad received our color and letter we begun to think of possible names for our squad. We haven’t settled in a name just yet but we’ve narrowed it down.
Fundraising update…
I’m gonna start by saying thank you to everyone who has helped me to get to where I currently am. I am 34% funded and in dollar amount that’s $6,526. My next goal dealine is May 17th, at that point I need to have raised, collected, and turned in $10,000 in order to launch on time with my squad. Currently, my Sunday night bible study called Bridge, has come together to help me raise this daunting amount. Several friends are babysitting and donating their profits to my trip, the men of Bridge started a go fund me and it has since closed, I personally have sold dog treats, have t-shirts for sell, am doing yard work, making easter baskets, and stuffing easter eggs and will scatter them while the kids are still sleeping. Another friend has called in a favor and spoken with a local restaurant owner and he has graciously allowed me to have a give back night on April 10! An old fundraiser is still going on and is soon coming to a close is the change jars. The jars will be collected on May 1st and I’ll get everything counted, rolled, and turned in. My work is also helping me fundraise is other ways as well.
I have finally gotten my last vaccine!! So I’m so happy that I don’t have to get anymore shots before I leave! Yesterday, Saturday April 6th, I did a 5k carrying my gear. The total weight of my pack is a little over 40lbs. I completed the 5k in 1hr and 4mins. I was shooting for under an hour but I’ll take it! I did fall on the ground about halfway through because I was in so much pain! I layed there for roughly 4mins, but I got up and pushed through and only had to stop 1 other time to readjust my pack. Today, I’m so sore that I have been having difficulty getting off the couch and out of bed! I have another 5k in 2 weeks and I’m shooting to cut off that 4mins so I can be right at an hour.
Please continue to pray for my squad and the people we meet throughout the year. Please consider donating to help me each my goal of $10,000 in order to launch on time with my squad. I believe wholeheartedly that God is going to show up in unexpected ways. Please join me in praying that I’ll be leaving fully funded!
Again thank you for your generosity and helping me spread the Word of God to the nations! I love each and every one of you!
Jamie
