Hey friends and family sorry I have been so distant and haven’t updated you all on my trip. So now I’m going to do just that.
In preparation for the world race (WR) I have to get lots of shots, 9 to be exact. These shots include hepatitis A, polio, tetanus, chickenpox for adults ( since I’ve never had chickenpox), meningitis, yellow fever, Japanese encephalitis, collalera, and typhoid. The 4 vaccines I still need are yellow fever, typhoid, collalera, and Japanese encephalitis. A couple of the shots I have to go to a different city to get either to Greenwood up near Indianapolis or down to Louisville, KY.
Fundraising is coming along slowly but surely. I’ve reached $2,200 so far. I’ve tried selling t-shirts and they didn’t raise anything. I’ve also tried adopt a box and it has raised a little bit but didn’t do quiet as well as I hoped. I have also sent out support letters and they have helped the most. Other fundraisers I plan on doing is a few give back days at some local restaurants and I’m in the process of partnering with Threads of Hope, an organization based out of the Philippines.
I have most of my big gear. The gear I have so far is my big pack with a built in solar panel, my dayback, hydroflask, rain cover for my daypack, tent, sleeping pad, sleeping bag, air pump for sleeping pad, coffee mug and drip over that attaches to my coffee mug, headlamp, pillow, jacket, rain jacket, chacos, keens(boots), flipflops for showers, quick dry towels, bug lotion, luggage locks, journals, and pens. Items I still need to get are my clothes, bigger duffel bag to put my big pack in for the airport, laptop, camera, extra sd cards, sunglasses, multi tool kit, and first aid kit with lots of different medications.
In less than 9 months I’ll be launching to for the World Race. I have gotten so excited about this trip and in preparing for my launch date of June 4th, which by the way is a Tuesday! Everything that the Lord has shown me back in June is starting to become reality little by little. I’m still trusting and believing that God will raise all the support I need for me to launch on time with the rest of my squad. God has placed this mission trip on my heart and I have accepted and am taking this huge leap of faith and trusting in Him 100%, that He knows what’s best for me. Please continue to pray for my squad and for me during this preparation period. Pray that my nerves be limited and that I be able to raise the amount before we launch, even though I don’t need to be fully funded until September 30, 2019 which is exactly 1 year from today! I still don’t understand why God has called me to this amazing opportunity but I’m truly grateful that He has. My squad and I have started doing a bible study together and so far we have gone through the books of Ephesians, James, and are currently going through the gospel of Mark. Through these books we have learned so much about what the Lord is doing in our lives.
