The word I find myself describe everything lately. From places, to names, to things, to people, to character, to God. I think it is because recently I read or heard someone say that God made everything. Today a lot of Christians compare everything to secular and believe no Christian needs to partake in secular things. But right from the beginning of scripture God made the world aka secular. God created the people; God had his hand in everything that is made and will always be a part of everything made. Now I know things can be corrupted and there is evil in the world but that does not mean you can’t find the beauty of God in it or in them.
I am currently in Johannesburg, South Africa working with Impact Africa. Their goal is to serve, educate, and share the gospel to people of South Africa. As we arrived it is very obvious of how beautiful the compound is with tons of land, homes, horses, pool, and palm trees. As we pulled up to our home for the month the sun was slowing rises and you can see the amazing hills of Africa around us. The only word that I noticed kept coming out of my mouth was beautiful. Also, before we arrived our driver Uncle Mutza was telling us his story and the only word that I described as was ‘beautiful’.
I think when you start to see God in everything you see beauty. For the world race I am my squad’s beauty for ashes coordinator. Beauty for Ashes is a women’s ministry focused on bringing God’s restoration, hope, and healing to suffering and victimized women through ministry and training. Now I did not start saying the word beautiful because of my new role, but I love how my new role is to use the beauty of God to bring healing, hope, and restoration to others.
“One thing I have asked of the Lord, and that I will seek: That I may dwell in the house of the Lord all the days of my life, To gaze upon the beauty of the Lord and to meditate in His temple”
Psalms 27:4
As I am typing this I get to stare at a beautiful scenery of trees upon trees, hills, and horse. It is not home but realizing my home is the Kingdom of God and His kingdom is everywhere, including this place, I can call this home.
