WR Countries “mini series” blog!

I will be posting a little about each country I will be in! Including facts, places I want to go and food I am DYING to eat (I mean, gotta include it, food was my major)

Nicaragua

Our first stop!

Fun facts:

  1. Nicaragua is slightly larger than New York

  2. There are over 400 volcanoes found in Lake Nicaragua

  3. The wettest months are June to October

  4. The national sport of Nicaragua is baseball

  5. Almost three quarters of Nicaraguans live on $2 a day

If I get to be a tourist I want to…

  1. Somoto Canyon – one of the oldest rock formations in Central America. Hiking the canyon, cliff jumping, swimming, boat rides

  2. Night tour of lava bubbling at Masaya – 2 volcanoes, 5 craters, climb the volcanoes and see the lava activity below!

  3. Laguna de Apoyo – swimming in the crater of an old volcano

Food I want to try:

  1. Quesillo – a tortilla stuffed with white cheese, topped with pickled onions, and crema

  2. Rondon – spicy fish stew with peppers and vegetables with a coconut cream sauce

  3. Bunuelos – fried dough balls dipped in syrup

  4. Guirila – salty/sweet pancake with cheese and cream
