I’ve always had an adventurous spirit. Always wanted to see other parts of the world. I have been fortunate enough to see some pretty amazing places already! I’ve always had big dreams and ideas. I’ve also always had a plan. My dad tells people, “Hannah Rachel was born with a day-planner.” Well, I was actually born with an ordained plan from God. But thanks, Dad. I love you. During the spring of this year, I took a class called Perspectives on the World Christian Movement. Game-changer. About 3/4 of the way through the semester, I felt a shift in my spirit. It scared me. I knew God was calling me into missions. But where? How long? Where do I even start? God, are you sure? About a month later, I was told about The World Race from a now very dear friend and mentor from Church of the Highlands, my home church. She told me that her daughter went on the race a few years ago, and it changed her life forever!
I was shook.
There is no way I could do something like that. I had plans. I thought I would be married by now. I thought I would have a set career path. I thought I had some solid dreams. As I’ve prayed, I’ve realized something: I can make all the plans I want, but God has already ordained my steps. There is so much peace in accepting the plans God has for you (Jeremiah 29:11). God is faithful, and He will fulfill every dream I have and every promise He made long before I was even born.
So, here I go. My “yes” is on the table. I’m abandoning all of the plans, fears, and doubts that I’ve held on to. I am going to be a vessel and just watch God work. I have a part to play in His story, and it’s time for me to be obedient.
I would love to partner with you in prayer as I prepare for this trip, and also while I am serving during the 11 months of the trip. I would love to hear from you!
